History Of Hemp

The documented use of hemp-derived medicines dates to 2737 B.C. Emperor Shen Neng was known to prescribe hemp tea to treat various illnesses. In India, bhang which is a paste made with hemp powder was used to treat fever, clears phlegm, gives alertness to the body etc.(medicaldaily.com). Throughout history going back thousands of years, we have seen the medicinal use of hemp in various parts of the world(medium.com).

Scientifically, British chemist Robert S. Cahn first made the discovery of an individual hemp in 1940.However, Hemp was successfully isolated by an American chemist named Roger Adams(medium.com).

The discovery of the chemicals did not lead to understanding of their effects until Dr. Raphael Mechoulan successfully identified the chemistry of both THC and Hemp. Many have dubbed him the father due to his research on the plant.

Hemp in the US Today

The Hemp industry has seen tremendous growth over the years and is expected to continue to grow.

Hemp was federally legalized through the 2018 Farm Bill .
